This is the most commonly used method within fumigation services. It does not require any preparation or specialized equipment. This technique requires a longer ventilation period. Its recommended for longer traveling (15 days or more).
Similar to the short probe, but uses a custom-built vacuum cleaner with several sections of connector pipes. The grain is sucked from the bottom of the container and the fumigator escapes from the pipes to the empty space created. This method reduces the travel distance of the gas through the grain. The gas spread is slightly faster than the short probe, but the ventilation time is the same. This method is recommended for a navigation time of 13 days or more.
Perforated pipes are scattered inside the vessel’s hold before the loading arrives. These pipes are connected to blast-proof fans. The chemicals are installed on surface and the air is redistributed down through the pipes using the fans. The fans operate throughout the journey to ensure total dispersal of the gas. The gas travels faster while charging load, which increases the efficiency of fumigation. The fans reduce the ventilation time period once the fumigation is complete. This method is the most efficient for all types of ships and destinations. Fumigation takes 6-10 days with this method.
The chemical is placed inside long pouches buried in the load. The bags are tied together to facilitate handling at the destination. The pouches contain aluminum residue left by the fumigator in order to preserve the quality of the product. The time period for gas expansion as well as ventilation is the same as the short probe. This technique is recommended for handysize and the Panamax ships.

Most silo fumigations are done to save time and money, since large quantities of products can be processed in a single application at a lower cost than container fumigation. You are saving time and reducing additional costs. The silo must comply with regulations in order for the product to be treated. It is therefore recommended that the silos be inspected before each use.
Recommended for short-distance vessels, this application method is the newest and most effective on the market. It consists of applying fumigeant as an active gas which reduces the time required for the chemical reaction. Ecofume is a little more expensive, but is the best way to avoid any risk of delays.

Brumising is a technique used to eliminate insects, which involves using a fine pesticide spray directed by a blower. In some cases, hot steam can be used to transport the product and keep it in suspension for longer. In this case, fast-acting pesticides, such as pyrethrins, are used. This method is useful in areas that are more difficult to reach and pre-processing before loading grain cargo.
The brumising is also used to control insects in enclosed spaces such as warehouses, trailers and confined spaces.
